Can Guinea Pigs Eat Onions?

Onions are both crunchy and cheap, which begins the question, can guinea pigs eat onions?

No, guinea pigs cannot eat onions, as they are very toxic. Onions contain the compounds thiosulphates and disufides which are both toxic to guinea pigs, alongside other pets like hamsters and rabbits. Even little amounts are toxic. Eating as pretty as 2.5g/pound of guinea pig can cause red blood cell issue. You can never feed your guinea pig onions, in neither little or big quantities.

Onions are toxic to guinea pigs
